Indigenous youths tear gassed in prison

Late last year it was revealed indigenous youths in the Northern Territory’s Don Dale Juvenile Detention Centre had been tear gassed, among other punishments. Now, the Northern Territory’s Children’s Commissioner has tabled his report on the incident, as well as the circumstances leading up to, and after, the transfer of six young people to an adult prison in August 2014.

Amnesty’s Indigenous Rights Adviser, Rodney Dillon, spoke about Amnesty’s stance on the issue, and his personal take as an indigenous person.
