Treasurer Scott Morrison will be unveiling the federal budget at 7.30 tonight, amidst much speculation as to contents and whether it will win the foundering coalition the upcoming election. ACOSS says 2016 budget must reassess priorities

The Australian Council of Social Service, or ACOSS, released its submission to the Federal Budget on Tuesday morning, and is calling on the Government to set a new course. ACOSS CEO Cassandra Goldie says the government must realign its spending priorities and strengthen the tax base.

Housing body calls for urgent reform

National housing policy body National Shelter has called for urgent action on affordable and liveable housing through the upcoming Federal Budget. National Shelter Executive Officer Adrian Pisarski says a lack of affordable rental supply is creating increasing inequity and disadvantage in Australia.
